My first trip to Little Sahara sand dunes was quite interesting.
I had no idea what we were getting into, but off we went to get some amazing bridal pictures.
I knew it was going to be a bit of a drive but I love doing small road trips to discover more of this amazing state of Utah. Along the way I found so many other fun places that I think would be so much fun for doing high school senior pictures! Eureka anyone?! There were also some wonderful rock formations that would make great pictures for bridals or a beautiful, flowing prom dress! But that will be for another time.
Tonight was for this bridal-formal session. We got there and didn’t know where to go exactly. As we drove around, we watched some crazy dune buggy drivers go straight up some super steep sand mountains. It was pretty crazy. (At the end of the session we also saw ambulances race toward said mountain…eeek!)
So we needed to find somewhere away from all the sand and dust they were kicking up. After an adventurous ride down a “dirt”/sand road (and luckily not getting stuck) we found our spot. At first glance it seems as if it wouldn't really give us that "sand dune" look.
Not much to look at, right? This doesn't seem like the place we want. But a short (and I mean short) walk up a small hill, and voila! we found a good spot for pictures. With some creative lighting, proper camera angles and lens choices...I think we got some pretty cool pictures. What do you think?
After spending the next day getting rid of all the sand in my equipment and clothes, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back…was all this sand and the distance worth it? But after looking at the images we were able to get….it was.
I would definitely go back and do more sessions out there….and along the way. Anyone want to go for a drive?!
